
Apple Crumble

Ingredients
Apple Layer
- 6 Granny Smith apples
- 1 small lemon or approx. 1½ tbsp lemon juice
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ to 1/2 cup maple syrup (depending on how sweet you like it)
- 1 tbsp flour
Crumble Layer
- 1 cup organic flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- ½ cup rapadura sugar
- 120g butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Method
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (fan-forced).
- Peel and chop the apples into small cubes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, maple syrup, and flour. Toss until everything is well coated.
- In another bowl, mix together the flour, oats, rapadura sugar, baking powder, and cinnamon.
- Pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture becomes crumbly.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly into a baking dish.
- Top with the crumble mixture, spreading it out evenly.
- Bake for 40 minutes, or until the top is golden and crisp and the apples are tender.
- Serve warm, ideally with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of thick Greek yoghurt.
